Unlucky Clover
... Yeah I wasn't getting to sleep until I posted this. It's been a rough two days, so enjoy the combination of my two Normal brain cells, size scenarios and vampires.
Word Count: 2.1k
CWs: pretty heavy fearplay, and it’s a sizey story with a vampire, obviously mouthplay/vore energy
=====
The snow began to fall, and Clover quickly ran towards the nearby human house. Luckily, she had plenty of provisions, but she needed to escape the cold quickly or she’d freeze in this weather. As she entered the house through a hole in the siding, she was pleased to discover that it appeared to be heated, and even the space between the walls was warmed thanks to the insulation. As she sat down and curled up for warmth, waiting for her body to recover, she came to a decision that this house would be the perfect new base until the spring.
-
It was early in the evening when Nix noticed that they weren’t alone in their house. It was easy for them to smell the scent of fresh blood, but this was no pack of mice… this blood was human. Following the scent lead to a random wall, against the outside of the house. Perhaps somebody was laying against the siding? thought Nix, but it was far too cold for them to bother checking. Besides, they could wait a few more days before their next meal.
-
It took three days for Nix to finally spot the little intruder. They hardly believed their eyes as they saw her running behind their furniture. At first, they thought it was some kind of hallucination, but the scent confirmed that it was definitely real. It seemed like they had a borrower setting up shop in their house.
-
It had been two weeks, but Nix had finally spotted the little nuisance again. For the last two weeks, small objects had been disappearing around their house, which they could only conclude was due to their little “housemate”. When they saw her, the little intruder was scurrying towards a hole in the wall, holding a few hair clips in her arms as she ran.
“You know, you’re not very good at sneaking,” said Nix, a playful tone in their voice. They saw the borrower’s spine tingle, before she ran even faster into the hole in the wall.
-
It took Clover a few days to work up the nerve to leave again after that incident. This human seemed to be… more nocturnal than most humans, waking up at sunset and going to sleep before the sunrise. Clover had heard of a “night shift” job, and figured this human must have one.
There were a few other oddities as well, including the human’s distinct lack of food in their pantry, but that wasn’t enough to deter Clover. After all, she was an outdoor borrower, she was able to go out and forage for enough food to last her.
It was almost sunrise, and Clover knew the human was probably on their way to sleep. She just needed some fabric, and she knew the human had dropped a sock behind the dryer a few days ago. All she had to do was get to the laundry room and grab it and she’d have the material for a perfect winter coat.
Making sure that the human was out of the room, she began her trek, moving along the walls of the dark house. She got most of the way through the hallway, in an area with nowhere to hide, before the worst possible thing happened.
There was a moment as Clover stared fearfully at the human, taking in their appearance. This human was pale, that was the first thing she noticed. Their eyes were a bright red, almost seeming to glow, but surely that was just a trick of the light. They wore casual pajamas, just a baggy shirt and short pants, a far cry from the nice suits or dresses the human would normally wear before going out. After what felt like both seconds and years, the human spoke again, the second time they had spoken to the borrower.
“You.”
Clover was thrown off-guard as the human seemed to move at a superhuman speed, wrapping both of their giant hands around the borrower. Cold, was the first thought Clover had. Perhaps the human had been outside recently? No, that wasn’t right. Nothing was right here. Clover stared at the human fearfully as they began to speak.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here? If it isn’t the little thief who’s been running around my house.”
As they spoke, Clover stared, wide-eyed, as she finally noticed the gigantic canine teeth of their captor. It was all starting to click… this wasn’t the house of a human at all…
“What’s wrong, little thief? Cat got your tongue? Or are you incapable of speaking?”
Clover blinked back to attention. Speaking to humans was expressly forbidden… but Clover was never one for rules.
“I… can speak…” hesitantly murmured the borrower, almost too quiet for a human to hear. However, at this point she knew she was talking to no ordinary human.
“Ah!” exclaimed Nix, a clear teasing tone in their voice, “It’s intelligent after all. Well, as intelligent as somebody can be when they break into the home of a vampire.”
Vampire. Clover had known it to be true, but to hear it out loud made her skin crawl. She had heard legends of vampires, humans given a thirst for blood in exchange for immortality. It was said that vampires needed to kill dozens of humans a year to quench their thirst… and humans had a lot more blood than borrowers did.
Nix quickly interrupted the borrower's thoughts as they continued to speak. “Please, I know I’m quite attractive, but surely you know it’s rude to stare,” teased Nix, as they moved the borrower to a single hand, holding the borrower ever closer to their mouth, grinning wide with their fangs out.
“I… I… I…” was all Clover could stutter, as she stared in fear as the gigantic fangs, each one half the size of the small borrower.
“Oh? It seems like the little thief found her voice again. What were you saying?” said Nix, as they moved the borrower even closer.
“I… d-didn’t know…” spoke Clover, who was starting to tremble from fear. From this close, she could smell the faint metallic scent coming from the vampire’s mouth.
“You didn’t know? Didn’t know what, little thief?”
“I didn’t know… you were… a v-v-v…” Clover stammered fearfully.
“Oh! A vampire! Is that what you’re trying to say? It’s so hard to understand you with that stutter of yours,” spoke Nix, playfully poking Clover’s nose (or rather, her whole face) with the index finger of their free hand.
Clover could only nod, her voice caught in her throat. As Nix began to laugh, Clover recoiled back, pressing her body against the far side of the vampire’s tight grip.
“I… I d-didn’t know…” repeated Clover, as if in shock. “A-are you… g-going to kill me?"
“Well, I suppose it doesn’t matter what you knew or didn’t, because now you’re here, in the hands of a vampire,” said Nix, a devious smile still plastered on their face.
“Y-you didn’t an-” Clover went to speak again, but was swiftly interrupted by the vampire as they continued mocking the borrower.
“I’ll be honest with you… you smell absolutely delicious, you little thief,” continued Nix, their tone playful yet predatory. “You know, it’s been a week or so since I’ve fed… and while you certainly aren’t a meal, you’d surely be a good little snack…” said Nix, as Clover trembled in fear, staring at the fangs which may soon rip her apart.
This is it, thought Clover. I’m going to die.
“Maybe if I had enough of you… tell me, little one, you wouldn't have any friends nearby, would you?” asked the vampire. They knew the answer, but wanted to hear this intruder admit it. As Clover fearfully shook her head, Nix continued, “Ah, a shame then. I guess you really are all alone, huh? Just you and me, here in this house… far from anyone who could hear you…”
Finally, Clover regained her composure just enough to speak just one simple statement, voice soft and weak as tears welled in her eyes. “I… d-don’t want to die…”
At this, Nix stared at Clover, continuing to grin that sharp grin as their glowing red eyes looked at their captive. They adjusted their grip on the borrower, holding her between their index finger and thumb, which was still enough to keep her completely unable to escape.
“Don’t worry, my dear, it will only hurt for a moment” cooed the vampire, as if soothing a child about to get a needle. They slowly, deliberately raised the now-sobbing borrower to their mouth, bringing her right up to their fang, close enough that the borrower could reach out and touch it. As Clover cowered, she heard the vampire vocalize, a sound which shook their entire mouth, including the borrower now inside it.
“Hmmmm…”
And then, before she knew it, Clover was brought out of the vampire’s mouth, and dangled in front of their eyes by her leg. She would shout in pain, if she had any fight left in her. Instead, she could only stare at the giant red eye in front of her, waiting to see what was happening.
“You know, I was hoping for a little more fight out of you. No yelling, screaming, not even kicking? Just going to lie back and accept your fate, huh?”, said the vampire, in an almost casual tone, a far cry from their tone only seconds ago.
Clover could only continue to wordlessly stare at the vampire’s eye, unsure what they wanted her to say.
“You know, I’ve seen a lot of different reactions to my little games. Begging, pleading, fighting. But you? One weak little ‘I d-don’t want to die’”, Nix said, imitating the borrower’s voice with extreme precision, “and then you just cower. Is that just how you little things are? Ready to accept death at the slightest threat?”
“N-n-no…” was all Clover could say, forcing the word out of her mouth.
“N-n-no” mimicked the vampire, again perfectly mirroring the little borrower’s voice before rolling their eyes and speaking again in their own voice, “Seriously, you have to work on that stutter, my dear, it makes you sound even more pathetic than you already are.”
Dangling by her leg, tears stinging her eyes, and face-to-face with a monster that was now mocking her, the little borrower became almost completely unresponsive. Nix shook their little captive around, before continuing. “You know, if you’re going to be this boring, it makes me wonder if you’re even worth the effort to kill. I was expecting a little more of a thrill than this, weren’t you?”
Clover didn’t respond, until Nix shook her again, their voice growing more firm, “I asked you a question. Weren’t you expecting a little more of a thrill?”
“Y-yes… I mean, n-no…” said Clover, reignited with fear after hearing the change in the vampire’s tone.
“Well, that answer tells me nothing. You know what? You’re officially no fun. Do you know what that means?” asked Nix, that familiar devious grin on their face. Clover desperately tried to hide her face from the vampire, only to be shocked when she found herself being lowered to the ground. After being released, roughly landing on her shoulder blades before flipping around, Clover could only stare up at the vampire, wondering what her fate would be, before Nix spoke again.
“It means that I want you out of my sight. Now.” spoke Nix, though there was still a hint of playfulness in their voice. “Well? Are you waiting for me to pick you back up, or are you going to go scurry away somewhere?”
Clover was... confused. She had just accepted her death at the hands, or rather mouth, of a vampire, and now she was being set free? Despite her better judgment, she fearfully asked a question, taking a moment to compose herself so as not to stutter.
“You’re… not going to kill me?”
Nix leaned down and grinned before replying, “Hm? Did you want me to?”
“N-no, no, I just…”
Nix waved their hand dismissively before replying, “You have until I wake up to get the hell out of my house. After that, you’re fair game. Now scram, and think twice before stealing people’s things again, you pest!”
Clover wasted no time scrambling to her feet and starting to back away fearfully. “Y-yes sir, uh, ma’am, uh…”
“The more you stutter on, the more I’m regretting letting you go,” Nix said, as they turned around and began walking towards their bedroom. “And you don’t want me to regret this.”
Clover understood the message loud and clear, as she ran to her little hidey-hole and quickly packed only the essentials for her expedition to find a new place to live. The outdoors would prove challenging this time of year, but surely it was better than staying with a vampire.
-
Nix chuckled as they entered their bedroom. By now, the little pest was probably down the block. To think, she thought they would eat her. While Nix was a vampire, they’d never drain somebody dry, even a little thief like that. What kind of mindless beast did she take them for? Regardless, hopefully they had given her a good scare, and a lesson on being more sneaky when borrowing. After all, not everybody would be as kind as they were…

I promised Dove Lore but instead y'all are getting Nix Hound OC Lore 😭
Tumblr media
This is Sujamma, the entity I often call Yung Nix.
Sujamma is a failed experiment by Neloth. In an attempt to give Nix-Hounds the power of speech, he failed to realize that Nix-Hounds have 0.2 braincells. As a result, everything that comes out of Sujamma's mouth sounds like TikTok Rizz Party.
Neloth abandoned him after he ate a Black Book that is now completely lost to the ages. Teldryn Sero, feeling bad for the little guy, adopted him.
After eating the black book, he exists inter-dimensionally and is Hermaeus Mora's favorite pet. Teldryn is trying to coparent with a Daedric Prince, which is not going well. They've had to get Mephala involved in the custody battle. Currently Hermaeus Mora has supervised visitation on weekends because Sujamma kept falling into his goop ocean and getting skeletonized.

Not a fan of the super out-of-character cannibalism whump stuff I'm seeing pop up for Laios.
Like, yeah, I fully believe that Laios would do some cannibalism (which in and of itself is morally neutral, it's the whys and wherefores where shit gets snarly) but that is not a man who's going to commit murder to eat someone. *Especially* not any of his coworkers/friends/allies. Given, like, his whole thing with responsibility and how much he cares about the people he actually likes.
And like? If you want fucked up shit involving mutilation and cannibalism with ol dude... like the manga actually provides shit for that and in character even.
Like, don't slander my guy just cause yer uncreative and just lazily taping the names/looks of characters into shit that clearly ain't them.

Just thinking about Halsin’s pining and yearning as he waits for the right time to confess, once he can focus on things beyond the shadow curse
How he probably fantasizes many nights, it’s not the relief he craves but it’s as close as he can get for now
How Diex is scarred from his time alone - two on his face and one Halsin has noticed peaking out from under his shirt on occasion (he definitely wasn’t staring) - and Halsin wonders how many more mark his skin. Where would they be? How would they feel?
Was Nix scarred, too? The gloom stalker definitely preferred his hunting from the shadows, but he knew how to use his dagger in deadly fashion well. Surely he had many encounters during his time alone, just as his brother did. And he certainly wasn’t afraid to get between Diex and a threat. Maybe he had just one, long and deep, over his thigh and hip. Would Halsin be allowed to touch it? To kiss it?
Did they have birthmarks? If they did, would they show him? Or would they let him search their bodies? Would they tease and hide it from him, so he kept looking? Kept touching?
Would he be allowed to memorize their bodies? Every inch of their true forms, every mark upon their white canvases? Would they let him know such a thing so intimately he could tell any shift they made, no matter how small?
Could he be allowed to know them, truly them, deeply in every way?

The Vampire Hunter
So, this started life as the original concept for the story that became Unlucky Clover. Originally it was just a scrapped idea, but then I realized I can do whatever I was forever and what I wanted to do was expand on the concept, so this kinda turned into a prequel. It's a bit lighter on the fearplay because I didn't just want to rehash the same story but I hope it's still interesting.
Word Count: 2.7k CWs: Not as much as Unlucky Clover but this is still a sizey story involving a vampire so like. Some vore-adjacent energy.
======
It started small, with minced garlic hidden around the apartment. It was only Nix’s heightened sense of smell that let them even notice the stuff, but they brushed it off as some kind of wild animal storing food or something as they grabbed it and threw it away.
The miniature crosses which began to spring up around the house were harder to justify, however.
“What the…?” was all the vampire could mutter as they picked up and examined one of the crosses. A simple shape made of wood didn’t actually hurt vampires, despite what pop culture suggested. But how were they getting there?
After almost a week of cleaning up miniature crosses that were getting more and more conspicuously placed, Nix finally had enough. It wasn’t the first time a hunter had tried to stalk them, but usually they weren’t so… ineffective. There was no smell of blood during the night, this intruder was clearly breaking in during the day. Why just scatter some annoying deterrents then, rather than take out Nix in their sleep?
All it took was for Nix to stay up for the day, waiting in her bedroom to hear the front door click, or a window open, or however the intruder was getting inside. However, that never happened. She did eventually smell blood, a weak smell, yet unmistakably in her house. Gliding through the house with superhuman speed, Nix followed the smell to the living room, where she was greeted by something unexpected.
A figure, only a few inches tall, was standing in a corner of the apartment tying two tiny wood pieces together into a cross. They looked young, perhaps only a teenager, with messy hair and an outfit that looked hand-sewn. The vampire and this tiny person locked eyes for a short, tense moment. Both of their eyes were wide, though for very different reasons.
It was Nix who eventually broke the silence. “What… are you?”
The tiny person continued to stare wide-eyed, before quickly reaching into the wooden case they had on their back, pulling out another wooden piece. This one resembled, no, probably was, a toothpick, which the tiny intruder pointed firmly at Nix.
“D-don’t come any closer!” cried the tiny voice. A grin formed on Nix’s face as she realized this tiny person could speak… and was clearly terrified of her. Finally, something about this situation that felt normal. Regaining her composure a bit, the vampire spoke again.
“Well, that’s no way to act after breaking into someone’s home. I simply asked you a question. What are you?” she asked, tilting her head slightly.
The tiny intruder stood defensively, but their trembling voice made their true feelings known. “I’m… I’m a vampire hunter, and… and I’m going to destroy you!”
Nix’s eyes lit up as the dots connected in her head. While she still wanted to know what this intruder was, knowing they were indeed a hunter, or at least attempting to be one, gave her some ideas of how to proceed. Grinning with a fake smile, her voice switched to a pleasant tone, as if making small talk with an old friend.
“Oh, a hunter, that explains it. It’s been, oh, fifty years since the last one? I had heard they’d gone out of style,  changing times and all. Tell me, dear, how are you going to kill me, exactly?”
The hunter paused, before raising the toothpick in their hand. “I… I’m going to… um…”
Nix suddenly moved, at human speed, just kneeling down on her knees to be a bit closer to this tiny intruder. However, the simple movement was enough to startle the little intruder, who raised their toothpick in self-defense.
“I… I said stay back! Or I’ll… I’ll be forced to stake you!”
This got Nix’s attention, and after a moment of staring incredulously, she began to laugh. “Oh, of course, of course, staking! The classic method of hunting the undead. Of course, you’ll have to drive that little toothpick into my heart, won’t you?”
The tiny vampire hunter began to sweat nervously as Nix said that. “Your… heart… of course…”
“Oh, obviously you knew that was the only way to truly stake a vampire, didn’t you, dear? I figured you had some plan for how to do that, right?” The vampire said, tilting her head in mock confusion as her grin became more of a smirk.
“I… of course I knew that! I just… didn’t think you would be so… calm about it… t-that’s all,” replied the hunter nervously, as they lowered their ‘stake’.
“Well, you don’t live to my age without dealing with a few vampire hunters… but I do have to say, none of them are quite as… small as you are. Tell me, how many vampires have you slain, oh mighty hunter?” asked Nix, her eyes sparkling mischievously as she noticed the tiny vampire hunter start to squirm.
“W-well, um… you know… a few…” replied the vampire hunter, as they nervously tried to step backwards, but quickly realized that Nix had positioned herself such that the tiny hunter was cornered.
“Oh, a few!” gasped Nix with false shock, as she leaned closer to the fearful vampire hunter. “I didn’t realize I was in the presence of such a fearful vampire hunter. I’ll have you know I’ve fought off a few hunters in my day… maybe four? Five? But I’m sure none of them were quite as dangerous as you, my dear.”
It was only once she leaned in that she realized the vampire hunter was almost a pale as she was, as they took another step backwards, closer to the wall. Her smile only grew wider at this, she hadn’t even touched the poor thing and they already looked close to fainting.
“Y-yeah…” the terrified hunter stammered. “But I’ll… spare you… th-this once…” they stuttered as they took another step backwards, only to jump in shock as Nix leaned further forward, supported by her hands which she placed on either side of the fearful vampire hunter, trapping them further. The vampire’s face now loomed over the hunter as she spoke again.
“Oh, come now… where’s the fun in that?” She said with a smirk and a soft laugh. “Clearly you had plans to slay me, no? Why else would you be stalking me like this?”
The hunter could only stutter a bit as Nix continued speaking.
“Well, far be it from me to stop you… if you want a fight, then let’s fight, dear.” Nix said with a mocking grin.
After a moment of wide-eyed pause, the alleged vampire hunter broke into a sprint, trying to run past the vampire’s hand, only to be pinned down by the cold hand which moved at superhuman speed. The tiny hunter squeaked in fear as they were held in place, and then lifted up in the vampire’s grasp.
“Ooh, an admirable fight, dear. Do you want to try again?” cooed Nix, as the vampire hunter squirmed in her hand.
“P-put me down!” shouted the tiny hunter, in what seemed like an almost primal fear.
Nix leaned back, putting her other hand on her chin as if deep in thought. “Hm… well, you did break into my house, leave garlic and these annoying crosses everywhere, threaten to stake me…”
The vampire hunter squirmed in her grasp, beginning to sweat nervously as Nix continued listing off her grievances.
“I- I’m sorry… I just… I…” stammered the tiny intruder.
“You just…? Just what?” Nix said, eyeing them curiously.
“I… had to do something… you’re… dangerous…”
This got a laugh out of Nix, which gave the tiny person in her hands a good glimpse of her sharp fangs.
“Dangerous, hm? I’m sure, dear. After all, you would know, being a vampire hunter and all, wouldn’t you? Surely you’ve fought many dangerous vampires.” Nix said, staring into the little intruder’s eyes.
“I… I lied… I’m sorry…” whimpered the tiny intruder.
“Oh, you lied?” gasped Nix with fake astonishment. “About what? Everything you’ve said so far seemed just so truthful.”
“I… I’m not actually… I haven’t actually fought any other vampires…” replied the shaking intruder.
“Oh, you haven’t? Well, there’s a first time for everything. Now, you know how this works, hm? The vampire hunter tries to stake me, or burn me, or what have you, and I, the vampire…” Nix said, before her voice trailed off and she smiled widely, showing her fangs.
“Well, I do what vampires do, hm?”
The tiny intruder’s eyes went wide, and Nix could feel their heart rate spike in fear.
“W-wait, wait, I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have… I shouldn’t have… I’ll do anything, just don’t…” begged the tiny “hunter” in the vampire’s hand as they cowered.
Nix’s jovial expression became a bit darker as she looked at the squirming, pleading intruder in her hand.
“Hm… you know what I hate?”
“W-what?”
The vampire spoke, her voice clearly unamused. “Hunters who think they’re so high and mighty, up to the second they realize they’ve lost. I’ll tell you, dear, nothing is more obnoxious than a hunter begging for their life after threatening to take another… you understand, don’t you?”
The tiny intruder instantly went silent.
“So, instead of listening to you beg, I’m going to ask you a few questions, and we’ll see how the day goes from there, hm? Just a little chat, how about that?”
The tiny intruder quietly nodded their head, and Nix began to stand up and move to the couch, still holding the tiny intruder in her hand.
“So, now that we’re having a little conversation, let’s get to know each other. My name is Nix, and yours…?” asked the vampire.
“... Aspen…” replied the tiny vampire hunter.
“Aspen! A lovely name, I’ve always been a fan of floral names,” Nix said, before placing the small person on the coffee table. “I’ll put you down, but don’t go anywhere,” she instructed, as her red eyes seemed to glow momentarily. Aspen nodded, and as they were placed down, they found themself locked in place, unable to run despite how much their brain was screaming at them to flee. After a few moments of trying and failing to get their legs to move, Aspen chose to simply sit down on the table, knees huddled close to their body.
Nix leaned back on the couch, making herself comfortable as she spoke again. “Perfect. Now, Aspen, what exactly are you? And I don’t mean your occupation, dear.”
Nix noticed that Aspen looked almost nauseous as they were asked that.
“P-please, I can’t… I’m supposed to be… a secret…” quietly murmured Aspen.
“Well, I’m very good at keeping secrets. Why don’t you tell me? Unless you’re done having our little chat already?” questioned Nix, as her blood-red eyes glared at the trembling form of Aspen.
“I… okay… w-we’re known by many names… but we call ourselves borrowers…” replied Aspen, as they tried desperately to not look Nix in the eyes.
“Borrowers… interesting… so there are more of you, then…”
Aspen had that same nauseous look on their face, and their head slowly started to swivel before Nix continued, waving her hand dismissively.
“Well, like I said, your secret is safe with me, little Aspen. I have no interest in any of them, unless you all think yourself hunters?”
Aspen vigorously shook their head no, and Nix spoke again. “Very well then. Now, maybe it’s the small size, or maybe I’ve just grown bad at telling ages, but you seem quite young to be on your own. How old are you, Aspen?”
“I’m… in human years… I’m about seventeen…” replied Aspen. Nix questioned the terminology there, but continued anyways, her eyebrows raising slightly.
“Ah! That changes things, certainly. So young, yet out on your own… is that normal for your kind?”
Aspen just nodded their head.
“I see… So tell me then, Aspen the borrower… what inspired you to become a vampire hunter?”
“H-huh?”
“Surely you heard me, dear. One doesn’t just wake up and decide to hunt the undead, especially somebody with your…” Nix pinched her fingers together to about Aspen’s size, “... height. So, what’s your story? And answer truthfully, dear, this is an important one,” Nix said with a wink.
Aspen was silent for a moment, clearly in thought, as Nix waited with surprising patience. Finally, they spoke.
“I… I saw you, um… bring somebody here… and um… y-you…” they started.
“I…” mirrored Nix.
“Um… you… b-bit somebody… and I realized… you were dangerous… to humans… borrowers… everybody…” Aspen replied, each word forming slowly as they spoke, clearly terrified of saying the wrong thing.
“Ah,” said Nix, nodding slightly. “So, you picked up the mantle, so to speak.”
“I… I guess… so…”
The vampire seemed to be deep in thought, and Aspen waited anxiously for her next words or actions. A few agonizing moments later, Nix spoke again.
“You know… you aren’t very bright.”
Aspen was silent.
“Where did you learn to hunt anyways? You do know that garlic and crosses are just a stereotype, yes? And an incorrect one at that.”
Aspen’s head bowed slightly as they spoke. “I… read some books…”
“So your plan was just to, what, poison me with garlic and holy power? Weaken me and then stab me with a little toothpick?” asked Nix.
“I’m sorry…”
“That’s not an answer, dear. Yes or no?”
“Y-yes… that was the plan…”
Nix nodded her head before sitting up a bit. “You know what I think, little Aspen?”
“W-what?”
Nix leaned in even closer again, speaking with an almost sing-song tone. “I think that you need to be taught a little lesson…” she said, red eyes glowing.
Aspen went pale, and began to tremble again as Nix reached over and grabbed the borrower between her index finger and thumb. Aspen couldn’t help but shake in fear as Nix’s hand was brought up to her face, and the borrower was forced to stare at the blood-red eyes which were staring at them with an unreadable expression.
“P-please, I… I answered your questions, I…” pleaded Aspen, before being quickly shushed by the vampire.
“Do you want to know a secret of my own, Aspen?” whispered Nix, her breath washing over the helpless tiny person dangling in her grip.
Aspen hesitantly nodded their head.
“You said I was dangerous, right? Well, in my… 180 years or so, I’ve fed a lot of times… more than I can count… Do you know how many people I’ve killed in that time?”
Aspen remained silent.
“I’ll tell you… but you may not like the answer…”, whispered Nix, even softer this time.
Aspen’s face grew nervous, but they nodded their head.
“One.”
Aspen remained silent, but a look of confusion began to grow on their face.
“... One?” the borrower squeaked out.
“One,” said Nix as she nodded her head. “And he was a very, very bad man.”
“Am I… am I number two?” questioned Aspen fearfully, causing Nix’s eyebrow to raise slightly in curiosity.
“Do you think you are?” whispered Nix, the air from her breath sending a chill down the borrower’s spine.
“I… don’t know… I tried to hurt you…”
“Hm,” was all Nix said as she moved the borrower further from her face. “Well, I think you’re young, and quite stupid… you’re reckless, foolish, and obviously didn’t think anything through...”
Aspen remained silent as Nix continued to talk down to them, shame on their face.
“Any other vampire would have made a quick snack of you… but I’d like to think I’m better than that. So… I think I’ll let you off with a warning.”
As Aspen processed this, Nix placed the borrower down on the floor, and took a step back before continuing her little speech.
“You’re clearly just a kid who got way in over their head, and I’m not about to drain a foolish child. But, if you ever return here, to hunt or otherwise… you can finish that sentence, can’t you, Aspen?” Nix said, crossing her arms.
Aspen simply nodded their head. “Y-yes ma’am, I understand, I promise, I’ll never bother you again!”
“Good. Now, get out of here, to wherever you normally flee to, and next time, don’t try to pick fights you can’t win, my dear.” was all Nix replied as she walked away with a hand wave, confident that the borrower would heed her words.
